Security First Insurance Launches Claim App To Aid Florida Homeowners

Florida-based homeowners insurance provider, Security First Insurance Company, today announces the launch of Security First Claim, a free iPhone® application giving policyholders the ability to use their mobile device to file claims, upload photos of the damage, and check the status of claims. Security First Claim is integrated with the company’'s policyholder database saving customers from having to enter tedious policy or property detail.

“More policyholders are using their mobile phones to file claims than ever before,” said Locke Burt, chairman and president of Security First Insurance Company, “It'’s important to us that we are accessible whenever and wherever our customers need us.”

According to a recent study, Americans and Their Cell Phones, conducted by The Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project, 40 percent of cell phone owners said they found themselves in an emergency situation in which having their cell phone with them has helped. Hurricane wind speeds often sever cable lines and disrupt electric, Internet, and landline phone services. The Security First Claim app will provide policyholders with a reliable means to report their claim and speed up the recovery process—even when all other lines of communication are down.

As technology improves and new opportunities emerge, Security First Insurance continues to evolve their disaster recovery plan. The company recently launched pre-loaded credit cards as a new method of providing additional living expenses to policyholders who have had their homes damaged by a catastrophe. The credit cards eliminate the time it takes to issue, mail, and tender checks because claims adjusters can issue the cards at the disaster recovery site. This will give policyholders immediate access to funds to make alternative living arrangements and to purchase essentials such as food and clothing.
