More than 9,000 survivors and supporters expected to attend central Florida event

Florida-based homeowners insurance provider, Security First Insurance Company, announced today that the company is a sponsor of the 16th annual Susan G. Komen Central Florida Race for the Cure event to be held on Sunday, Oct. 21 at the University of Central Florida’s Bright House Networks Stadium in Orlando.
Security First Insurance is supporting the race as a Bronze sponsor. Additionally, the company has a team of employees who will be participating in the race which begins at 8 a.m.
“Most of us know someone who has been impacted by cancer,” said Locke Burt, chairman and president of Security First Insurance Company. “It is startling to learn that breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer in the world with about 1.3 million people – men and women – diagnosed annually. That’s why it’s so important to find a cure for this disease.”
Up to 75% of the net proceeds raised by the Central Florida Affiliate stays within the Central Florida community to fund outreach programs in nine Central Florida nine counties: Brevard, Flagler, Lake, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Sumter and Volusia. The remaining 25% of the Race net proceeds support the Komen Grants program. According to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure website, the Komen Central Florida Affiliate has raised over $4 million through various fundraising events, including Race proceeds.
For the month of October, Security First Insurance is displaying the pink awareness ribbon on their website and Facebook page to increase awareness, provide support and encourage online visitors to get involved.
