Suggestions for residents with property damage:

  • Safety is your highest priority. If the structure of your home will allow you to safely do so, make minor repairs to prevent further damage to your home
  • Submit your claim as soon as possible – making note of your updated contact information if you have been temporarily displaced from your home
  • Keep receipts for any expenditures you incur while living away from your home
  • Take pictures of damaged items before they are removed or destroyed
  • Choose licensed and bonded contractors and request references - Security First Insurance offers homeowners a guide with important information to help with researching and hiring a contractor. Visit SecurityFirstFlorida.com/ContractorTips to download the free guide.
  • If you’re living away from your home, do not post this information in social media – this could leave you vulnerable to burglary
