Security First Insurance Uses Personalized Videos to Help Florida Home Insurance Customers Better Understand Their Coverage

Security First uses technology to explain coverage in an engaging and relatable way

ORMOND BEACH, Fla.— December 12, 2013 –  Security First Insurance Company will soon begin sending new Florida homeowners insurance policyholders a personalized video designed to highlight important coverage information specific to their policy and clear up common insurance misperceptions. Security First Insurance’s personalized video, which they co-developed with business partner Real Time Content, is believed to be an industry first.

Homeowners insurance: the movie – coming soon to a computer near you!

Actual customer feedback: "How cool are you guys ? I just reviewed your video - I know a lot more about my policy than I have known on any policy I've ever had. Seems like I made a really good choice. A personalized program, you guys are on the ball. Thank You"

Complex, lengthy and full of legal jargon and industry verbiage – those are just a few reasons why a 20-page insurance policy is hardly at the top of the average person’s reading list, especially in our digital world. Video has increasingly become the communication channel people use to seek and consume content. More than 6 billion hours of video are watched each month on YouTube – the second largest search engine in the world – that's almost an hour for every person on Earth, and 50% growth from 2012, according to YouTube’s statistics. Today’s digital and social media culture allows Security First Insurance to move beyond traditional business communication channels to share helpful information with its customers.

“We want to ensure that our customers have a thorough understanding of their insurance coverage and the steps to take if they ever need to file a claim,” said Locke Burt, chairman and president of Security First Insurance. “We feel it’s our responsibility to use technology to improve the customer experience and convey this important information in the most engaging and easy-to-understand format possible.”

Security First Insurance is recognized for its commitment to customer service.  Earlier this year, the company made headlines for reducing its homeowners insurance rates by a statewide average of 9.3 percent, and is committed to working with state legislators to improve Florida’s homeowners insurance market.
